The Vines is in deep Mendoza wine country, at least a two hour drive from Mendoza Airport but with incredible views of the soaring Andes all the way. The Resort is set in a 1,500 acre private vineyard estate. Large, spacious, modern villas scatter the grounds and offer extra privacy to retreat to after a day enjoying an array of activities and wine related experiences on the estate and further afield.
There are 22 villas in all, sumptuously furnished in neutral tones, floor to ceiling windows to capture the light and incredible Andean views opening to a private patio with electric fire pit.
Villas sleep either two people in one bedroom units or four in two double bedroom deluxe villas.
The real star of the show here, is however, the Francis Mallman restaurant which is his only opening within a hotel complex. He chose wisely as the setting so close to the Andes is spectacular – day and night.
Again, as expected, wines are a speciality and all manner of immersion is offered in viticulture and oenology. There is a state of the art Spa and Gym, gorgeous pool, riding out on beautiful horses and fishing.
The province and city of Mendoza is the main export wine region of Argentina, famous for Malbec. The city and region has a stunning location beneath the eastern flanks of the soaring Andes Mountains. Here, the Andes are at their highest point, snow-capped and rising majestically from the desert. It is here, in the vineyards with views to the Andes that you will find the most exquisite wine lodges that excel in service, sommelier expertise, fine dining, luxury and privacy.
The region around the town of Cafayate, to the North West of Mendoza, less accessible but well worth the journey, is another wine region worthy of exploration. Torrontes is a speciality, grown at higher altitude along with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
