Rocksure Snow

Rocksure Snow

Even within close-knit groups of family and friends, debates often rage between “winter fun versus winter sun”.  While skiing is the ultimate invigorating winter escape for many, it can send a shiver down the spine of others! But you need not go your separate ways... it’s the sheer beauty of being in the mountains that fuels The Rocksure Club Ski Team to continually head for the Alps and seek out the ‘and also’ side of a ski holiday.

Heli-skiing, ski instructors, husky rides, snow-shoeing...yes, yes, yes, yes – we can & will arrange all of those for you. But let’s think outside the box – what can we do for you to make that ski holiday extraordinary? What can we do to help you convince the ‘sun-worshippers’ that the “life is in the mountains, not on a beach”?

Perhaps the promise of a private dinner in a centuries old converted hay barn overlooking the Dolomites followed by a snowmobile ride back into a village would do the trick? Or a mountain picnic up in the great heights of a Glacier reached only by helicopter? Riding on Switzerland’s oldest, longest (& slowest!) iconic Glacier Express? Learning to play the Swiss Longhorn? Or how about a day of espionage & discovery as you take to the previously unknown secret tunnels of the Swiss Army deep in the Gotthard Mountains?

The mountains really are not just about skiing...

Properties

Listed below are a range of beautiful properties that are located in some of the most celebrated ski regions of the world:

Ski the White Ring Circuit full day

Lech & Zürs

Spend the day skiing the 22 kms White Ring, which is a spectacular panoramic trip amidst impressive Austrian Alpine peaks. Created according to the vision of the Vorarlberg pioneer Sepp Bildstein about 60 years ago, the ski circuit is now one of the most beautiful and impressive ski runs in the Alps. From the top of Rüfikopf peak at an altitude of 2,131m, the White Ring runs between jagged boulders before the seemingly infinite majestic mountains appear before you in the distance.

Stop for a light lunch at Balmalp, which is a modern chalet building located conveniently at the top of the Zug ski lift and serves good food, such as charcuterie boards, local cheeses and freshly made pizzas.

After a hard day’s skiing head to the Aurelio, which is an iconic hotel in the centre of Lech and offers gourmet dining in simple yet very elegant interiors with a relaxed atmosphere. The cuisine here really is out of this world, not only in taste but also in its stunning presentation.

Champagne ski boots and horse drawn sleigh for dinner

Lech & Zürs

Strolz is world renowned for its handmade ski boots - they are custom made by craftsmen and it is said that once you have a pair of Strolz boots, you are a customer for life as they are made with orthopaedic expertise and precision to suit your individual feet. Now in the 3rd generation, it is still a family business and in addition to ski boots and handmade skis, there are 6 floors of ski equipment, ski wear and fashion to tempt you. Sip a glass of champagne at their bar in-store whilst your boots are being made, or alternatively they will deliver them to your hotel. The service is impeccable!

Early evening take a ride on a horse-drawn sleigh where you can see the charming village of Lech and stunning countryside, ride along snow covered country pathways to the romantic church in Zug and onto Kristiania Lech. Sip an elegant craft cocktail in the Rote Bar before dinner at the Kristian Restaurant which is a relaxed and easy-going, friendly restaurant and serves traditional Austrian dishes fused with contemporary lounge music. We recommend their surprise tasting menu, where the chefs put all their skill and craftsmanship into creating a truly gourmet experience with inspired cuisine.
