Positioned in Nairobi's peaceful suburb Langata, OneFortyEight is the perfect luxury boutique hotel to stay in during your time in Nairobi. The hotel is beautifully designed with a perfect blend of safari authenticity combined with unique style.

The main house has three bedrooms with a converted loft with beds for children, the style is open plan with a large fireplace and an open veranda which provides a warm atmosphere. There are 5 further rooms that have been converted: 3 apartments and 2 studios. Each room is set up with fabulous art on the walls and lots of personal touches are made to make sure guests feel comfortable and at home during their stay.

Set on the edge of Nairobi, OneFortyEight can show you the diverse contrast of being in one of the busiest cities in the world but also being such a short drive away from Nairobi National Park where there is an abundance of wildlife, including lions.

Nairobi is the only major city in the world that shares spaces with wildlife. Lion roars and the

wicked hyena cackle can be heard at night and warthogs, peacocks and monkeys will often walk through the beautiful OneFortyEight gardens.

The brilliant elephant conservation efforts of Daphne Sheldrick's can be seen first hand by visiting the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Here guests can interact with orphaned baby elephants under the age of 2 years old (and even sponsor one if you would like!).

Other conservation efforts can be seen by visiting The Giraffe Sanctuary right next to the Lodge where efforts to increase the Rothschild giraffes are taking place.

There are also lots of boutique markets filled with a large array of colours and life as well as high quality restaurants serving local cuisine to delicious standards.

The excellent service and the natural charm of the place make it an idyllic place for anyone visiting Nairobi to stay!

Region

Nairobi is the beating heart of Kenya. This cosmopolitan and energetic city is juxtaposed next to the tranquility of its rural surroundings. With a vibrant nightlife and plenty of cultural sites, such as the Karen Blixen museum, Nairobi remains true to its roots, yet is unrestrained by them, as it seeks to push forward into the 21st century with the same ambition and pace that proved so successful in the 20th.

Besides its urban attractions, Nairobi is the perfect base from which to explore Kenya. Within reach are the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and the AFEW Giraffe Centre as well as the Nairobi National Park, meaning that the city is able to fuse culture and nature.

It is this unique combination of experiences that make people fall unexpectedly in love with Nairobi. Consequently, it is easy to see why it has come to be known as 'The Capital of Wildlife'.

Kenya is a country with three distinct types of climate: the coastal region is hot and humid; the mountains and plateaus are temperate; and the north and east are hot and dry. Like it’s equatorial neighbour, Ethiopia, Kenya only experiences small seasonal variations in temperature. However, the warmest period is between February and March, and the coolest months are July and August.

The two prevailing winds create two seasons: from October to March, the hot and originally dry winds come from Arabia, whereas, from April to September, the prevailing winds are cooler and wetter, and come from the Indian Ocean. At the beginning of these two periods there are two short rainy seasons. The most intense rains are between March and May, and the less intense rains from October to December.
