Estancia Vik is a 4,000 acre farm just 15 minutes inland from the lively and chic resort town of Jose Ignacio. Part of the Vik family of properties in Uruguay.
The centre piece of the property is the white and terracotta estancia lodge, spread out over a series of shady courtyards with private shady spaces and impressive views over Uruguayan farmland where cattle and horses graze.
Estancia Vik is wonderful for a private exclusive escape for families and groups where the attentive concierge can arrange horse riding and Polo, picnics, biking and trips to the beach, experiencing both the rural, peaceful lifestyle after a busy day at the beach.
There are 12 suites and master suites which can be
separated into two separate living spaces containing six suites each, if required. Each suite is completely unique in terms of decor and artistic styling, they are bold and all tell a story via the art adorning the walls and furniture. A room menu is offered as to personal preferences.
Picnic lunches can be arranged to compliment activities further away from the estancia, a long ride, biking, bird watching or a hike. Paint balling can also be arranged along with kayaking and tennis.
A funky games room styled as a cowshed houses a pool table, ping pong, darts, board games and games consoles.
The Vik wine cellar has an extensive range of wines from the Vik vineyard in Chile.
The Uruguayan Atlantic coast at Christmas has been likened to the Hamptons. A beach haven for 'movers and shakers', New York bankers, slick entrepreneurs and Argentine high society.
The high rise beach strip of Punte del Este hosts the glitziest parties and the laid back village Jose Ignacio is a bare foot, sandy, understated, village coastal retreat where the world's top international chefs ply their trade at private villas and exclusive beach side restauants.
There are slick beachside independent boutique hotels owned as a hobby by billionnaires and a range of villas to rent.
Out of season is a far more laid back experience on the coast. Exploration is best with your own hire car to discover wonderful restaurants in the rural interior and venture to the Brazilian border passing wild beaches, abandoned colonial fortresses and temperate palm forests.
