Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa is located in the malaria-free Welgevonden Game Reserve, an area positioned at the foot of the Waterberg Mountains and renowned for its attractive terrain, deep gorges and plateaus. A blend between African chic and contemporary, the property’s natural fibres and colours create elegant and welcoming spaces.

There are two deluxe suites, one honeymoon suite, a two-bedroom family suite and a two-bedroom executive suite which are all beautifully appointed and boast luxurious comforts and modern conveniences.

The owner’s three bedroom Villa at Mhondoro is booked on an exclusive use basis and is all inclusive of all meals, drinks, activities, private

spaces, pool, boma, gym and yoga room, guest laundry, private safari vehicle, private chef and general staff and amenities.

Between exciting day and night game drives or walks, relax in the atmospheric main lodge. Savour delicious meals in the dining room, the deck or the boma, and sip sundowners around the fire. In the heat of the day, doze beside the pool - keeping an eye out for the game drawn to the waterhole.

Mhondoro’s unique observation hide overlooks an active waterhole. Reached through a 60m underground tunnel, guests can view animals while safely enjoying an up-close safari experience. San Rock Art excursions are also available to guests.

Region

Situated close to the Kalahari Desert, just on the Botswana border lays Madikwe game reserve- a reserve a little bit different to other parks and reservation areas in South Africa.

Established in 1991 after the African government decided the soil was too poor for farming and the disadvantaged area needed an economic uplift, 10,000 mammals were relocated from other National Parks, and this was the birth of Madikwe Game Reserve.

Although one of the lesser known conservations in South Africa, Madikew is beautifully unspoilt and a lot less busy than the larger parks meaning a more authentic and real experience. It’s now home to 120 different mammal species including some rare and endangered such as the Black Rhino and African Wild Dog. It is a malaria free area ensuring that extra peace of mind when on your safari experience.

Today the reserve is regarded as a prime example of how relationships amongst communities and government can enhance conservation success.
