Mendoza, Argentina

Grace is located just outside the small town of Cayfayate, an extremely scenic, two hour drive, from the nearest airport at Salta. The complex has been built from scratch within the last 5 years. The architecture is Spanish colonial style with state of the art leisure facilities.

Naturally there is a strong focus on wine but Grace and the region around Cayfayate differs hugely from Mendoza where the production of Malbec is on an industrial scale. Along the ‘Ruta del Vino’ you will find charming boutique vineyards growing Torréntes and Tannat along with Malbec.

The 75 hectare Grace Estate is surrounded by vineyards and a red, rocky low mountain range displaying stunning sunsets. There is a 12 bedroom boutique hotel along with private residential villas.

The estate is an excellent base for exploring the region and returning back to for comfort and luxury along with enjoying the many facilities of a 5 star resort including the pool, Spa, restaurant with cooking classes, golf and riding (including Polo).

Region

The province and city of Mendoza is the main export wine region of Argentina, famous for Malbec.  The city and region has a stunning location beneath the eastern flanks of the soaring Andes Mountains. Here, the Andes are at their highest point, snow-capped and rising majestically from the desert. It is here, in the vineyards with views to the Andes that you will find the most exquisite wine lodges that excel in service, sommelier expertise, fine dining, luxury and privacy.

The region around the town of Cayfayate, to the North West of Mendoza, less accessible but well worth the journey, is another wine region worthy of exploration. Torrontes is a speciality, grown at higher altitude along with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The region is blessed with a warm-hot sunny, clear sky days perfect for the cultivation and harvesting of grapes between October and April.

Winter, July and August brings snow to the Andes for skiing. Cold nights in the desert below but many of the wine lodges remain open and are a cosy retreat with open fires and plenty of Malbec!
