Etoile Filante is a modern luxury duplex apartment in the high altitude resort of Val d’Isere built in 2016. Located in the new La Canadienne development from Jean-Charles Covarel and designed by the well-known Alpine interior designer Nicky Dobree, it is the perfect destination for families and smaller groups offering affordable luxury in a great location.
Not surprisingly, appropriately named 'shooting star' as it's a refreshing introduction to the apartment boom in Val d'Isere of late.
This property is 167ms spread over two floors. The Master suite has an en-suite bathroom with separate shower and private balcony where you can enjoy views over the Solaise ski area. There is one further double bedroom and one double / twin bedroom plus a children’s room with two single bunk beds and a further single bed.
The main living area is located on the lower floor featuring an open plan seating arrangement around a cosy, atmospheric fire place. Adjoining this is an elegant dining room and separate kitchen which opens onto a balcony with mountain views.
Upstairs you will find a study area for those who need a quiet space to catch up with some work.
The apartment is located a short walk (8 minutes) to the pistes or alternatively a two minute walk to the free resort bus service taking you straight to the piste.
There is a welcome reception upon arrival along with daily housekeeping and a mid-week linen change. You will further enjoy Christian Lacroix bathroom products and complimentary slippers and it wouldn’t be a Ski holiday without a bottle of Perrier Jouet champagne in the fridge!
High altitude. High speed lifts. And a traditional alpine village feel have to be 3 of the many reasons we love Val d’Isere. As do a fair few others it seems based on its consistent popularity on the winter calendar. However, with sumptuous luxury chalets and some of Europe’s most impressive hotels, is it any wonder anyone can resist the temptations of this snow-sure resort.
With the infamous Face piste, host to the early season FIS downhill event, providing a challenging run back to the resort centre at the end of the day along with the great heights & off-piste opportunities in the neighbouring & easily connected ski area of Tignes and the glacier of La Grande Motte above & beyond, advanced skiers will continually seek out new terrain to keep them occupied from dawn until dusk. For the less experienced, first timers or more ‘social’ skiers in the group, head up & over to Solaise to not only marvel in the cruising blues and easy gentle reds but also to enjoy the other great delight of this beautiful resort...the long leisurely lunches!
A well established firm hotspot on the foodie scene, Val’s mountain restaurants serve up sumptuous & innovative cuisines all best enjoyed on the sun-drenched terraces, basking in the jaw-dropping views. And for those who like to continue the partying well into the afternoon, then the renowned après ski legend; La Folie Douce’s flagship restaurant, can be found here in Val.
If, however, a full week of the above sounds a little excessive & exhausting, then we’ll let you in on our best kept secret: base yourself in the lesser known but equally stunning resort of Sainte Foy. From here you can ‘dip in & out’ of Val d’Isere as you please. During the day, ski & explore five ski resorts which are all within a 20 minute private chauffeur drive from Sainte Foy. But in the evening, enjoying being able to escape back to the romantic and arguably more magical resort of Sainte Foy. No battling the early morning queues. In fact, you just need hop on the helicopter and not battle or see a queue at all. This truly is the way to make the most of every minute of your ski holiday. The only way, we believe!
