Heralding new levels of luxury in the popular resort of Val d’Isere in France, the ski in - ski out Chalet Montana has recently, and quite rightly, been named by the Sunday Times as the Best Chalet in the Alps.
And we can certainly understand why. Over 500 sqm of living space, the chalet’s superb location is apparent from the moment you walk in and your eyes are immediately drawn to the views beyond through the ceiling to floor windows; the Face de Bellevarde piste, right there on your doorstep with the twinkling lights & slate roofs of the centre of resort beyond. The location is truly unbeatable.
And these views are continued as you venture two floors down to the spa & wellness area. Here from the indoor swimming pool, the views are a carbon copy. Enjoy watching skiers & snowboarders speed past from the warmth & comfort (with a glass of champagne in hand!) of the swimming pool! Quite a unique experience we assure you!
Back up on the entrance floor, there is the open plan drawing room with open fireplace & access to the wrap around balconies through French windows. It flows through to a fully equipped open plan kitchen / dining area so you can marvel as your private chef creates their magic...feel free to join in!
The Master Bedroom has its own private lift access from the drawing room and has a wonderful stone open fireplace. Along with an en-suite bathroom, Jacuzzi bath, dressing room. Up here you will find the TV snug area as well.
The rest of the bedrooms are located on the floor below the living room area. All bedrooms can be made up as twin or doubles, all en-suite. And one of these bedrooms is the fantastic children’s room with 3 single beds and 2 further mezzanine beds. And toys galore! Just one of the many reasons Chalet Montana is a popular choice for families.
High altitude. High speed lifts. And a traditional alpine village feel have to be 3 of the many reasons we love Val d’Isere. As do a fair few others it seems based on its consistent popularity on the winter calendar. However, with sumptuous luxury chalets and some of Europe’s most impressive hotels, is it any wonder anyone can resist the temptations of this snow-sure resort.
With the infamous Face piste, host to the early season FIS downhill event, providing a challenging run back to the resort centre at the end of the day along with the great heights & off-piste opportunities in the neighbouring & easily connected ski area of Tignes and the glacier of La Grande Motte above & beyond, advanced skiers will continually seek out new terrain to keep them occupied from dawn until dusk. For the less experienced, first timers or more ‘social’ skiers in the group, head up & over to Solaise to not only marvel in the cruising blues and easy gentle reds but also to enjoy the other great delight of this beautiful resort...the long leisurely lunches!
A well established firm hotspot on the foodie scene, Val’s mountain restaurants serve up sumptuous & innovative cuisines all best enjoyed on the sun-drenched terraces, basking in the jaw-dropping views. And for those who like to continue the partying well into the afternoon, then the renowned après ski legend; La Folie Douce’s flagship restaurant, can be found here in Val.
If, however, a full week of the above sounds a little excessive & exhausting, then we’ll let you in on our best kept secret: base yourself in the lesser known but equally stunning resort of Sainte Foy. From here you can ‘dip in & out’ of Val d’Isere as you please. During the day, ski & explore five ski resorts which are all within a 20 minute private chauffeur drive from Sainte Foy. But in the evening, enjoying being able to escape back to the romantic and arguably more magical resort of Sainte Foy. No battling the early morning queues. In fact, you just need hop on the helicopter and not battle or see a queue at all. This truly is the way to make the most of every minute of your ski holiday. The only way, we believe!
